If you are unsure about counselling, or if we can work together, I am happy to offer a short (15-20 minutes) telephone consultation free of charge so I can help you answer any questions you might have.
The outdoors and what they may mean to you is open to interpretation, but for my practice, I think of the outdoors as both a setting and tool for therapeutic change; together we would encounter the environment and feel how you relate to it. It may be that you love the outdoors, it may be that you don't like feeling confined indoors, it may simply be that you want to try something different - whatever your reasons for choosing to engage with counselling in an outdoor setting, we can work with this.
In my own practice, clients have provided feedback which suggests they find the sense of space and expansiveness of being outdoors somewhat freeing, and as such, it can be easier to talk through feelings of being stuck, for example.
The landscape itself can also be used as a catalyst for therapeutic change – finding connections and metaphors in the environment which may help you to articulate certain feelings or emotions that otherwise could have seemed difficult.
Our outdoor counselling sessions would typically take place in Pollok Country Park although other locations can be used, and I am happy to find alternatives together. I am also able to offer occasional sessions in Beecraigs Country Park, West Lothian - please contact me to discuss this specifically.
I offer these sessions as a standard appointment length, but also do longer sessions, up to a half-day, which would be 4 hour approximately.
My office is based within Pollok Country Park at the lovely Dumbreck Yard and has free on-site parking.
Working from here means that as client and therapist, we can respond to your needs and work indoors, outdoors, or a combination of both, which affords us some dynamic opportunities.
